August Newsletter
The big news this month is the integration of Quizlet functionality.
Preparing for the PMP exam can be daunting, but with the right tools and strategies, you can enhance your study process and improve your chances of success. Now I have added Quizlet integration for all paid membership levels to offer even more study tools designed to help you master the PMP exam material.
When logged in with a paid membership, you will see a new “Experimental: Test your knowledge with Quizlet games” at the bottom of each module. If you are not logged in, this content will be hidden. If you are already a Quizlet user (they have over 60 Million active users) you can access the study sets here. If you are not a member, they have a great free program (with ads) and reasonable, ad-free options.

Why Use Quizlet for PMP Exam Preparation
1. Active Recall and Spaced Repetition: Quizlet's flashcards are perfect for active recall, a proven method for reinforcing memory by challenging you to retrieve information actively. Combine this with Quizlet’s spaced repetition feature to review cards at optimal intervals, helping the material to stick.
2. Custom Study Sessions: Quizlet’s new Q-Chat AI functionality is very cool and allows you to create custom study sessions tailored to your needs. Whether you need to focus on weaker areas or want to review all topics, Quizlet’s tools enable you to personalize your learning experience and study style.
3. Quizlet’s Testing and Game Modes: Enhance your study sessions with Quizlet’s various modes, including Practice Tests, Match, and Flashcards. These interactive features make studying more engaging and help reinforce learning through different types of cognitive engagement.
4. Integration with PMillustrated Content: The flashcards and study sets are integrated with the content on PMillustrated, aligning with today’s best training research. These include concepts like interleaved practice, varied study sessions, and elaboration to deepen understanding and retention.
Why It Works The combination of PMillustrated’s detailed content and Quizlet’s interactive platform provides a robust study supplement that helps you engage with the material in new, meaningful ways. By using the power of active recall, spaced repetition, varied practice, and elaboration, you’re not just memorizing facts—you truly understand the concepts essential for passing the PMP exam.
I am a bit of an instructional design nerd and love learning about how we learn. This includes what works well (active recall through quizzing) and what does not work well (rereading and highlighting textbooks.) One of the best books on effective teaching, training and how we learn is called Make it stick.

For anyone wanting to learn more about studying smarter, not harder, I wrote a new blog post this month about the theory behind PMillustrated and Quizlet, and how they align with Make it stick recommendations.
