March Newsletter

Hi reader,

I am excited to announce that the first full Practice Exam with Results Radar analysis is ready for exclusive preview by you, PMillustrated Newsletter subscribers.

Depending on where you are with your PMP studies, this can be an effective tool for assessing your readiness for the PMP exam. I recommend you wait until you have worked through earning all the topic badges before taking the practice exam.

An important part of preparing for the PMP exam is taking practice exams. Unfortunately, beyond a pass or fail grade and question explanations, the results of sample exams can be difficult to interpret from a study perspective.

Practice exams are most useful when they clearly identify our strengths and weaknesses. This allows us to focus our study time on addressing our weaknesses. Practice Exam 1 with Results Radar transforms practice exam results into actionable insights. It provides a graphical analysis of the Exam Content Outline (ECO) Tasks you performed well on and those you did not – so you can target your remaining study time.
(In the example above, we can see that in the Process Domain, the task “2.11 Plan and Manage Procurement” is weak and needs more study. Likewise, “1.3 Support Team” in the People domain needs more work.)

I have written questions for three full Practice Exams. I plan to have one free Practice Exam and two additional Practice Exams for paid PMillustrated members. Each exam has 105 questions, three for each of the 35 (ECO) Tasks, enabling analysis of problem areas for continued study. However, like the actual PMP exam, all the ECO Tasks are randomized in the Practice Exam.

For now, access is restricted while the Practice Exam is tested. The page is not available from the PMillustrated website menu and is password protected.

Please report any issues or feedback by replying to this email.
(Creating three full length practice exams occupied me during the holidays and until now. The questions with explanations resulted in a Word doc of 147 pages and 37K words (a small book.) Consequently, there is not much else new to report this newsletter, but I’d like to remind you of some late breaking changes delivered at the end of last year you may not have had a chance to try yet.)

Final Practice Path Game

Master the Business Environment Domain
The third Practice Path game is here! Test your knowledge of the Business Environment Domain while navigating a steampunk world with Scrumpy the Monkey. This engaging game challenges you to apply PMP concepts in a playful steampunk world while solving real-world scenarios.

VR Game MVP

Full Virtual Reality (VR) games are fun, but require expensive headsets. So, I created a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) web based demo. It is on the Practice Paths page below the new Business Environment Practice Path game. You can make the image full-screen by clicking on the top right corner icon. Then, using click-and-drag with your mouse, explore the world of “RePoCo the Recycling Company” and answer a couple of questions about compliance on projects.
The plugin I am using in my RePoCo pilot could be used to explore project scenarios or drill down into abstract concepts, such as click-through the layers of a WBS, or explore elements of an agile life cycle?

Please reply to this email to tell me if you enjoyed it or found the fun, bonus cat video hidden in there.

Thanks
